KARACHI: Skipper Javeria Khan-led PCB Challengers beat PCB Blasters to win Pakistan Cup Women’s One-Day Tournament here at National Stadium.
In a live-telecasted match, Challengers’ bowlers dominated under the captaincy of Javeria who earlier performed with her bat for the team.
While chasing 211, Blasters’ batters were completely failed despite Gul Feroza and Omaima Sohail settling for scoring 69 runs for the second wicket partnership. Opener Nahida Khan fell after scoring just nine runs, leaving her team suffering at 18-1.
Gul scored 34 runs off 86 balls braced with three boundaries whereas Omaima made 38 runs including four boundaries. Captain Sidra Nawaz was the only third batter from Blasters who scored in double figures. Her inning accounted for 30 runs off 45 balls with the help of two boundaries.
Dua Majid bagged three wickets whereas Anoosha Nasir, Saba Nazir, and Diana Baig had two wickets each for Challengers.
Earlier, Javeria’s 87 runs guided Challengers to score 210-8 in 50 overs. Javeria’s powerful knock included six boundaries. Fareeha Mehmood smoked 34 runs laced with four boundaries followed by Diana who smashed three fours and a six to score 25.
For Blasters, Saima Malik bagged two wickets while Fatima Sana, Nida Dar, and Syed Aroob Shah shared a wicket apiece.
