‘PM Khan directs to observe this year as Sports Year’ Fehmida Mirza

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Fehmida Mirza announced to observe Sports Year 2021 as per the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan. 

Speaking to ARY News on Friday, Mirza said PM Khan wants to promote sports activities at the grassroots.

“This year, we will observe Sports Year as directed by the PM. DG – Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has briefed all sports directors of provinces in a meeting. Provinces are supposed to conduct sports activities on a monthly basis and submit reports to the PSB,” she said.

“PM Khan wants to take sports activities at grassroots. He has asked us to plan a roadmap to involve districts and towns in sports,” she added.

Fehmida said that schools will be taken into the loop especially to involve kids in sports. “There is a plan to involve schools in this plan. Talent comes from schools as kids have more time to polish their skills,” she shared.

“We have set age criteria, more activities in the U16 category will be conducted to track more talent in the country,” she concluded.
