Netherlands’ woman cricketer sets T20 record

CARTAGENA: Netherlands’ medium-pacer Frederique Overdijk set a T20 record by becoming the first cricketer, male or female, to take seven wickets in a match.

She set the milestone during an ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier 2021 match against France.

Overdijk’s blistering spell saw France getting dismissed for just 33 runs. She finished with sublime figures of seven wickets in four overs, which included two maidens.

Five of her dismissals were clean bowled. The pacer broke the T20 record of Nepal’s Anjali Chand who had taken six wickets without conceding a run. The Dutch side won the qualifying match by nine wickets.
