We had left with only option to cancel Pak tour: NZC’s CEO

RAWALPINDI: The Chief Executive of New Zealand Cricket (NZC), David White confirmed that they canceled Pakistan’s tour after security threats received by their government.

In a statement, White said he understands how tough it is for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) but they had no option other than canceling the tour.

“I understand this will be a blow for the PCB, who have been wonderful hosts, but player safety is paramount and we believe this is the only responsible option,” he said.

New Zealand Cricket Players Association chief executive Heath Mills echoed White’s sentiments.

“We’ve been across this process throughout and are fully supportive of the decision. The players are in good hands; they’re safe – and everyone’s acting in their best interests,” he mentioned.

Pakistan and New Zealand were scheduled to play three ODIs and five T20Is from September 17 to October 3.
