‘Situation is not ideal after Misbah, Waqar exit’ Shadab Khan

LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team’s vice-captain Shadab Khan said that the team’s situation is not ideal after the resignations of Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis as head coach and bowling coach respectively.

Speaking to reporters via virtual conference, Shadab said the decision of Misbah and Waqar was their personal one and he doesn’t want to comment on it in detail but the situation of the team is not ideal at the moment.

“I don’t want to comment on it in detail as it was their personal decision. But, the team situation is not ideal after their exit. However, our focus is on the New Zealand series and T20 World Cup and we are moving forward to that,” he said.

“If we think about such things, it will hurt our preparations for upcoming games. Hope that things go good for us,” he added.

Meeting with upcoming PCB chairman Ramiz Raja

Shadab shared that to-be PCB chairman Ramiz Raja asked them to build a modern-day environment within the team.

“He shared his plans with us and gave us the confidence to play aggressive cricket. He has seen cricket all around the world and has immense experience,” he disclosed.

“Since Babar took charge as captain, we have been trying to develop a culture of playing aggressive cricket. Our results are not too good but we are trying to make things better,” he added.

ODI series against New Zealand

Shadab believes that New Zealand’s main ODI team would have provided more competitive cricket to the fans. “They are not coming with their main team otherwise competitions would have been more competitive. But, still, there 8-9 players are regular and you can’t take any international team lightly,” he said.
