No flight available for Pakistan’s table tennis team for Asian championship

KARACHI: Pakistan Table Tennis contingent received a late Non-Objection Certificate (NOC) from Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) which has now caused problems in arranging a flight for their travel to Doha for ITTF Asian Table Tennis Championship, ARY News reported. 

According to the details, PSB issued NOC to the Pakistani team for participating in the event. But, Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) said the NOC was delayed, and now no flight is available for the team to fly for Doha during next two days.

The championship is scheduled to start on September 28. PTTF confirmed ARY News that they have sent the NOC copy to the organizing committee of the Asian championship.

The players who were named in the NOC are; Mohammad Rameez, Fahad Khawaja, Mohammad Shah Khan, Mohammad Asim Qureshi, Mohammad Bilal Yasin, Perniya Zaman, Haiqa Hasan, Sanam Yasin, Sana Muzaffar, and Ayesha Khan.

Ahmed Nawaz Khan will head the Pakistan contingent alongside male coach Ahmed Nawaz Khan and female coach Asma Shahzadi. The whole squad is yet to undergo COVID-19 testing.

It must be noted here that this event will also serve as the qualification for the 2022 World Team Championship.
