Former Sri Lankan player is back in Pakistan with New Zealand team

KARACHI: Former Sri Lankan batsman Thilan Samaraweera has returned to Pakistan as a member of New Zealand’s coaching staff which landed in the country after almost 18 years to play international cricket. 

Samaraweera was one of the five injured players during the attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore in 2009. It is his first tour since then amid Pakistani already rejoicing the return of New Zealand after a long time.

New Zealand will play three ODIs and five T20Is against the home series from September 17 to October 3. They have reached Islamabad today and will start training after having the results of their first COVID-19 test.
