MANCHESTER: Following COVID-19 fears in the Indian Camp, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in consultation with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the fifth Test at Old Trafford has been canceled.
In a recent development after uncertainty loomed over this Test since India’s head coach Ravi Shastri tested COVID-19 positive during the fourth Test, it is confirmed now that the fifth Test between the two teams has been canceled.
Following ongoing conversations with the BCCI, the ECB can confirm that the fifth LV= Insurance Test at Emirates Old Trafford, due to start today, will be cancelled.

“Due to fears of a further increase in the number of COVID cases inside the camp, India are regrettably unable to field a team. Hence, in consultation with BCCI, the ECB can confirm that the fifth Test between India and England will be canceled,” the statement read.
India was leading the five-matches Test series 2-1 after winning the fourth Test at The Oval by 157 runs.
