Blackcaps depart from Islamabad for New Zealand

Islamabad: Blackcaps have departed here from Islamabad International Airport as they return to New Zealand after canceling the Pakistan tour yesterday.

They are traveling to New Zealand via Dubai through a charter flight RJD232. The 33-member squad reached the airport around 2.00 pm under presidential security.

There was a delay in the New Zealand team’s departure after chartered plane failed to reach Islamabad on time. They were due to fly at 6.00 pm. All staff and players haD returned negative COVID-19 tests in rapid-testing.

Remember, the tourists moments before the start of the ODI series tomorrow postponed the series after an escalation in threat levels in New Zealand government and the advice of security advisors.

They were visiting Pakistan for the first time in 18 years and were due to play three ODIs and five T20Is in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
