ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan thanked Ehsan Mani for his services as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Taking to Twitter, Khan appreciated the former PCB chief for setting up a regional domestic structure and bringing international teams to Pakistan during his three-year tenure.
“Want to thank Ehsan Mani for his contribution to cricket in Pak during his 3 yr tenure as Chairman PCB. I especially appreciate his setting up, for the first time, a regional domestic cricket structure in Pak & his role in bringing back international cricket teams to Pakistan,” he wrote.
It must be noted here that Mani refused to continue as PCB chairman citing personal reasons. PM Khan has nominated former Test cricketer Ramiz Raja and Asad Ali Khan in the Board of Governors (BoG) for PCB chairmanship.
The election to elect the 36th PCB chairman will be held on September 13 at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore under the supervision of the Election Commissioner of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Justice (retd) Sheikh Azmat Saeed.
Reportedly, Raja had accepted the offer to become PCB chairman and he is most likely to take charge on September 13.
